Just some random chit-chat

Life is random.

I am random.

Up until this very point during which you are reading this, everything I have done, everywhere I have gone, even the person I have become is defined by that one word, random.

I apologize if this isn’t the type of post you are used to reading from me, but, given the events that have taken place in my life  (no worries nothing bad, in fact I got a new job), I felt compelled to put my thoughts out into the universe.

I don’t know why, but every time when I actively go out of my way to make things happen, nothing ever goes right, but the second I stop and just let my world be, things start to fall in place. Had someone told me ten years ago that I would be sitting here today doing what I do, seeing what I have seen and done the things I have done, I would have called them crazy. But now that it has all been said and done, I am amazed, shocked and just in pure awe of the way my life has turned out.

They say live the life you will be proud of, but I don’t know if that is the exact word I would use, I want to be content. My biggest goal in life is to one day, when I am all old and grey, to be on my porch, sitting in my rocking chair, over look the fields and fields of grass all around me and think  “Sara, you did good.”

Am I there yet, no, will I get there, yes.

Life is random.

I am random.

Now for those thinking this is some sort of encrypted suicide note, lol, no worries my dears I am perfectly fine.

US Glossybox!

For those who didn’t know, Glossybox has come to America! Primarily an international monthly beauty box, Glossybox did a mass Youtube promotion last month for their lauch here in the US and wanting to compare it to other monthly subscribtion boxes,  I bought one, and here’s what I got 🙂

WOW!!! How cool! Another perfume sample! Just what I always wanted! 🙂

Smells like my grandmas spice cabinet…lemon, ginger, juniper…sounds good but yuck!

FULL SIZE SAMPLE !!!

It is an eyeshadow base, the packaging is very cheap looking and feeling. Generally for makeup artists, it retails for $20USD

This is where it gets good though. The color is a gorgeous purple mauve. Its goes on smooth not tacky and stays put for a long time.

More eye cream goodies

I was excited to try this product, the AHAVA cream body wash, because I could smell it through the box, but then I realized the only reason I could smell it was because it had all spilled out 😦

This shaving cream is the bomb.com ( yeah i just said that!). It goes on without much lather and has no scent, but the after effects are just awesome. My legs were so silky smooth that I couldn’t help but bring out my short shorts 🙂

Final Verdict: Glossybox kicks the other boxes ass! Even with one missing product (which they said they would send and replace my AHAVA), this box was great. Yes the price is steep ($23 USD depending on location) but you actually get a lot of full size products. Plus the box everything comes in is just adorable!

So would I buy it again?…..I think I would 🙂

I got the Indian Wedding Blues

hello hello hello!!! I’m here, I’m alive, and I’m ready to blog!!!

This past week was nothing short of chaos! Last weekend my lovely cousin got married, and if you didn’t know I am Indian, and when Indians get married, its like a week long party fest! I had tons of fun but I can honestly say I am glad its over….IM EXHAUSTED! So before I went to bed, I just wanted to share some pics with ya’ll 🙂

I’m bummed that I didn’t take any pics of the henna I had on my hands but, I found the sample pics the lady used to make my design

If your curious, the henna goes on forest green and washes off to expose a rich red-orange color depending on how long you left it on. It lasts anywhere from 1-4 weeks depending on how exposed it is. Since I was running around the wedding week and doing a lot of work with my hands, mine came off within a week.

Decorator was running two hours late so had to chip in and help decorate. Lets just say, decorating a hall which was gonna seat about 500 people in less then 2 hours is not my version of fun 🙂

I think it turned out fabulous!

This is a pretty lady modeling the sari I wore to the wedding reception

I told my mom to take my picture in it…This is the best she could do HAHAH!

Hope you guys enjoyed my quick update, after I get some sleep, I will be back to my posting schedule 🙂

Time to get all Philosophical on you :)

First off,  if you clicked on this post thinking it was a review of Philosophy bath or cosmetics products, then sorry, this isn’t that kind of post today.

Ever have one of those days where  you kinda just go through the motions without really thinking about what you’re  doing?

Well I’ve been in this vegetative state for the last two days, hence my absence from the blogging world. Seriously, I have gotten up, gone to work, gone to school, come home and passed out on the couch….What the heck!

I’ve been trying to escape my funk (NO, not body order funk) but it seems the more I try, the more I just want to be left alone, eat chocolate and hide under my covers as I binge on Project Runway and Jerseylicious re-runs.

Arrrghh, great, now I sound like an obese manic-depressive with an obsession for gay fashion designers and orange drama queens:)

Anywhosizzles, is there anyone out there that also feels this way sometimes, or have I seriously hit the  height of laziness and gone KooKoo therefore in desperate need of psychiatric help?

TAG! Ur it! Beauty Secrets Tag

Okay so she doesn’t know it yet, but Fancieland is my new BFF 🙂 Without sounding too stalkerish, I love this girls posts and I think she’s the more calmer version of myself. A few minutes ago she posted a beauty tag, and duhhh, I had to respond!

1. What is one product that makes your feel like a million dollars?

Pshhh, right off the back I’m conflicted. If we are talking about makeup, then it HAS to be my Maybelline Falsies mascara. In my mind I always think that people will be so distracted by my fabulous lashes, that they won’t notice my dark circles and giant zit 🙂

If it’s clothing, then it’s gotta be my heels! Mind you I couldn’t walk in heels if my life depended on it, but I love them and own waaaay to many pairs 🙂

2. What is your skin care secret?

For YEARS I have been using St.Ives Apricot Scrub. Products have come and gone, but this has been a staple item. I have ridiculously oily skin that is prone to blemishes. So when I wear makeup, it is very important that I remove my makeup every night. Then about three times a week I exfoliate to clean off the dead skin cells and clean out my pores.

3. Share your hair care secret.

Like my awesomely slick face, I have oily hair….yuck! However, because I have naturally oily hair, I also have long hair. The oil provides natural nutrients for my scalp to grow healthy hair. So given this, I always thought any extra oil was my enemy, buuttt, recently I discovered the power of Almond Oil. About once every two weeks, I give my scalp a nice massage with the oil, leave it in for a few hours and I’m set for the rest of the month with gorgeous, soft, healthy hair.

4. What is your biggest diet rule?

Arghhh… this is where my  friendship with Fancieland ends 🙂  While she’s naturally too skinny, I’m naturally overweight and have always been so. But I made a commitment this year to put my health first and have actually been successful at loosing some weight and gaining some muscles. What’s been my motivation is I actually took “Before” pictures of myself. So on the days I feel down and frustrated, I look at the pictures and in a weird sadistic way, the pictures motivate me to keep going.

As far as actual diet, snacking has made the biggest difference. I read an article a few months ago that  said something about how is your body going to burn anything if there is nothing to burn. That really stuck with me, SO instead of  2 or 3 big meals, I eat about 5 small meals, this way my body is constantly working to burn the calories, instead of storing.

5. Any workout tips?

Do what you like! I hate running, so I avoid the treadmill. However, I love weight training and cycling, so those are the things that I do regularly at the gym. I mean come on, if you hate someone, I doubt you would want to hang out with them, same thing applies when working out.

6. Which perfume is your secret weapon?

I’m not much of a perfume person. No, I don’t stink, I do use deodorant, but I’m a lotions kind of girl, especially Bath & Body lotions, yumm!

7. Show us a clothing item that always turns heads.

My 7 forallmankind Jeans. Love them! Finally found a brand that fits my curves the way they were meant to  be  shown off. SECRET TIP: NOOOO way will I pay more than $40 for a pair of jeans. That’s just me, I’m cheap like that. I get these high-end jeans at TJ Maxx, for $5-$25 a pair!!!

8. What is your most treasured piece of jewelry?

I love the bling!!!!!! My current obsession is hoop earrings with small hanging  diamond balls   (eww…get ur mind out of the gutter 🙂

9. Who is your style crush?

I’m a mentally promiscuous person. Now, before you get all judgmental let me explain. I have a very undefined sense of style. Some days I’m a jeans, t-shirt and converse kinda girl, others I am a hippie chic, and yet others I’m a glamazon. So I don’t really have a style crush but I do like a bunch of different celebrity styles, but this is also always changing.

However, I’m obsessed with Marc Jacobs!!! More so for the person versus the brand, because I mean come on who else can rock neon blue hair with a pink dress. Yup.

10. Tell us something we don’t know about you.

I loooooove Disney. If I wasn’t a graduate student, I swear I would be a pretty princess at Disneyland! Seriously! Now without sounding like a Match.com ad, here are some others things about me: I’m scared of birds, I love chocolate, I’m obsessed with all things beauty, I love shoes, my eyes change colors depending on my mood, I live in California (totally just sang the Katy Perry song in my head, and now you will too!), my sister is my best friend, I played soccer in high school, I love reality tv shows (shhhhhh!), I have like 10 celebrity crushes, my ethnicity is Indian and my dog Lucky is the LOVE OF MY LIFE! Big boy turns 10 this year 🙂

Ok………..too much information 🙂 Now its your turn, I would love to read about who you all are!!! SO go on, stop thinking “naaahh not me.” Just push new post and start typing 🙂

Ugly Zit…BE GONE I SAY!!!

So like most people, I have battled ugly blemishes (i.e zits, pimples, acne etc..) my whole life. Even now, in my mid-20’s I’m still prone to the occasional breakout that has me running to the mirror every twenty minutes to check if the monster has grown bigger 🙂 However, through the years, after much money spent and hundreds of products tested, I think I have finally found the best PREVENTATIVE medicine I can buy from the drugstore that works for me.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a health  professional. This review is solely based on MY experience. Everyone is different, so what works for me, may not work for you, therefore if you have a serious skin condition, it is best you consult a physician/dermatologist, who can advise you on the proper procedures  and medicines to take that will work the most effectively for u 🙂

As teenager had these big  ole’ honking pimples all over my forehead. As I got older, these little suckers started to travel down my face! I mean really! Its bad enough that I was a chubby teenager, then add to that these meandering pimples and yup, the perfect cocktail for low self-esteem. Don’t worry I’m good now, but these pimples really motivated me to explore  products that would help me zap them away.

Proactiv, Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Burt’s Bees, Noxzema, Acne Free, Biore, Oxy, I mean if it can be bought at a drugstore store or mall, then I’ve tried it. While some helped ease the problem, most just irritated my face and exasperated the problem. However, eventually, I learned  better, fixed my diet, came up with a face routine that worked for me, and finally “conquered” my battle with the pimple 🙂

Now in my mid-20’s, my biggest battle is with the darn zits! Alright, alright I will be the first to admit that I don’t always wash off my makeup before I go to sleep. Oh hush, you know you have your lazy days as well 🙂 Sadly though, the next day is when I pay, when I see the evil creatures sprouting on my chin. So my cure….Persa Gel!

This product is awesome! With 10% Benzoyl Peroxide concentration, this product  not only helps reduse the redness, but makes my zits vanish quickly without  leaving any discoloration behind. So if I feel a zit/pimple/cystic acne attack coming on, I just dab this sucker on, and BOOYAH! gone!

I used to think I was deformed because the salicylic products never seemed to work for me. While they worked miracles for my friends, all they ever did for me was give me dry skin, which is pretty epic considering the oiliness  of  my skin!

Why does Persa-Gel work? Because it kills the bacteria!!! It gets down to the root of the problem rather then just getting rid of the zit cosmetically. So while it may take two days for the zit  to die forever, thats excatly what its going to do, DIE FOREVER! The product gets deep down kills the germs and PREVENTS  new zits from popin up in that place again for a while.

So  if your  tired of bumpy zits and salicylic products just aren’t working, give this a try 🙂 It’s cheap, effective and well-worth the hype.

IM ALLLLIIIIVEEE! :)

Hello fellow bloggers! So over the past week I have received some really cute messages and emails asking “OMG! Sara, where did u go?” “Sara how could you just stop blogging?” “Sara, I need ur makeup advise, HELP!”

So, here is my mass answer 🙂

My dear readers, I am well and alive 🙂 When I started my blog a little over two weeks ago, it was my small way of putting “my two cents” out there. I just wanted to share my thoughts and feelings and never really expected anyone to read it. However, I am so flabbergasted by the positive response I’ve gotten, and am absolutely flattered that people would care enough to email me and ask how I am doing 🙂

Last week, LIFE got in the way so blogging kind of went to wayside. However, in order to maintain an active blogging  status, my readers happy, and myself sane, I’ve decided to come up with a schedule for myself. This way, you all get at  least three new posts to read per week and I get time to try new products and come up with honest opinions to share with you all 🙂

Hope everyone is doing great, see you all on the  blog circuit tomorrow!

Love, Sara!!
