MASSIVE $255 MAKEUP HAUL!!!!

Oh dear lord, what have I done!!! Yes, you read right, my dumb butt just bought $255 worth of makeup. WHAT!!!¬†But to save face, I swear it wasn’t ALL my fault. The evil lady at ULTA, distracted me with her caked on makeup and spiderlashes and fooled me into buying stuff I didn’t even need:)

I went in originally to buy some higher end products for my lovely mother. It’s her birthday in a few days, and gosh darnit, the woman deserves some pretty products as well. However, I got selfish. Whoops. If you’ve been to ULTA then you know that they sell higher end products on one side and drugstore products on the other. So jee, hmmm where do you think I ended up? Yup!

I practically skipped to checkout line thinking I had done fairly well, but when the handsome man behind the counter said ” That will be $255″ I literally passed out. Seriously, my evil sister who I only see every other month and had egged me on to buying half the stuff, literally had to grab my hand, cause I was seeing stars before my eyes.

Sighhh……so what does one get with that much money? Not much.

Ladies, ladies, ladies. Luckily ULTA has a really good return policy, because there is no way I could live with myself if I spent 1/3 of my rent money on MAKEUP! I mean I love cosmetics, but I love a roof above my head more ūüôā And, yes some of you may be thinking, why didn’t I just return some products then? Well, soorrry,I got I selfish again. I thought it would make for some reviews, so be prepared ūüôā

Boom! Look at my lashes! E.L.F Eyelash Curler

The clock rang 6am, and I crawled into the shower. Still looking busted and sleepy after a nice long shower, I knew what I needed to do….time to ¬†bring out…THE CURLER!

Standing in front of my mirror, I poised my head back, brought my eyelash curler as close as possible to my lashes  and clamped down and OOOOOWWWW!     Snagged an eyelid AGAIN! Let this be a lesson to all you ladies, DO NOT CURL YOUR LASHES WHEN YOU ARE HALF ASLEEP!

On with the review ūüôā

Packaging: The E.L.F eyelash curler ¬†usually comes in a clear plastic box. Back when I bought mine, they never did this, but recently I have seen the curlers come with at least one extra replacement pad to use when your ¬†pad gets all goopy and cakey, eww ūüôā

Product: The curler is a typical scissors like design. Open the tongs, place lashes in between mechanism and push down. I recommend using the curler in a pumping motion, one or two pumps at the base of the lashes and one or two pumps towards the middle. Since the tips of the lashes are the most fragile part, avoid them.

Pricing: $1 USD!

Overall: Love it! I do not use this ¬†curler on a regular basis because I am too lazy, ¬†but when I do, it gives my lashes that extra VaVA Voom! No, not over the top Victoria’s Secret sexy eyes, but¬†definitely¬†that extra lift to make ¬†my eyes look more open, awake, and flattering. My only ¬†issue with this curler is that it is harder to use on individuals with flatter eyelids because the curler top ¬†is curved.

Drugstore Liquid Liners Comparison

I looooove me some liner! Not only does it ¬†help my hooded eyes pop, but it gives an overall more put together look. Now I would be ¬†lying if I said I’m ¬†not curious about higher end liners, but why spend so much when drugstore liquid liners do the exact same thing ūüôā

Below is a comparison of three very popular drugstore liquid liners : Loreal Linear Intense, Maybelline Stiletto, and N.Y.C Liner

Brushes: While both the Loreal Linear Intense and the Stiletto have felt tips,  the NYC liner has a really thin brush

Color Payoff:

Comparison: For overall¬†intenseness¬†of color, the Maybelline¬†Stiletto¬†is the BEST! Not only is it the darkest of the three, it also has the longest staying power. I found ¬†that with the Linear Intense (which is also the most¬†advertised¬†and over hyped on YouTube), I had to go over the line multiple times and even¬†then¬†it wasn’t very black and it had a tendency to turn grey and flake on my oily ¬†lids. The NYC liner was great in color, but the flimsy brush and liquidy formula made it more difficult to work with.

Overall: I’ve been using the Maybelline Stiletto Liner for years, and even when I experiment¬†with other brands¬†and¬†styles, I always find myself going back. Most¬†definitely¬†worth a try ūüôā

Revlon Double Twist Mascara

Continuing on with MASCARA MONDAY, if you read my previous post, then you  know that I was purging through my makeup this past weekend. As I was reminiscing and rediscovering some long lost treasures, I found this HORRENDOUS product, so I just had to warn all my fellow bloggers.

This product was advertised as “the next big thing.” With its double twisted brushes, this mascara promised to give oodles of¬†volume¬†while¬†separating¬†and¬†lengthening¬†the lashes. What it really did was make a huge¬†gloopy¬†mess and ended up at the bottom of my makeup drawer ūüė¶

Formulation: The actual formula of the product was soooo wierd! It was thick, dry and chalky. It was messy and got all over the place.

Wand: I think structurally this is where the problem is with this product. While one set of brushes is supposed to add volume the other set is supposed to lengthen. The odd mix of synthetic and rubber bristles was not a good mix.

Overall: NO NO NO NO!!!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!! Too buLky, too dry, too messy!  Instead of fabulous long lashes it gave 4 goopy spider lashes!!!

If anyone has gotten this product to work for them, please leave a comment below and let me know HOW!!? ūüôā

Review: Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara

Okie dokie, so I got bored this weekend so I went through my piles and piles of makeup to see which ones would be worth talking about. After digging through my mascaras, I came upon this green mascara and at first I was like “What the..?” and then it hit me “ooohhhh yeeeahh, that one!”

This is the Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara. It is advertised the first Revlon mascara that helps lashes grow stronger while visibly adding length and volume.

Product: duh…its a mascara ūüôā Basic tube and wand. The wand has elongated, conical shaped synthetic fibers that help add volume and legnth to the lashes.

Pricing: $4-$7 USD depending on location and availability

Overall: This mascara was okay, and I think that is why I forgot about it. I’ve been re-using this mascara for the past week and while it doesn’t give my lashes that dramatic flare that I like, I do appeciate the subtle “naturally pretty lashes” look that it gives me. The wand is ridiculously long and it it longer then my eye, but I think¬†that¬†is what helps coat all the littlle lashes I have on my outter edge, giving me a lovely elongated flared look. As far as helping my lashes¬†grow¬† stronger, ennngghhh, not so sure, but my lashes do look softer with this product on¬†versus¬†other mascaras.

This¬†picture was taken after a 16 hour work day, and my lashes are still slightly flared at the ends.I would recommend this mascara for those looking for a “natural” but flared kind of look.

Review: Rimmel London Scandaleyes!!!

It’s big, it’s flashy, and it’s new! Needless to say I got suckered in by the bright bold color, but if you’ve read my previous posts you know that’s nothing new ūüôā

So here is Rimmel London’s answer to the new craze of full voluminous eyelashes. It’s called Scandaleyes and it promises to increase your lashes by three times and its supposed to be healthy with all the extra infused keratin in the product.

Yeah….cough….so here’s my review.

Brush: The brush is made up of huge synthetic fibers that slightly taper down towards the front. The one complaint I do have is that the brush is a little too big  so you have to be careful when applying the mascara or you will get all over your eyelids, lower lid and nose bridge

Packaging: It is a huge chunky neon orange tube,  which kind of  looks like the Covergirl Lash Blast (this is the only reason I bought this mascara)

Pricing: $5-$10 USD depending location and availability.

Overall: It was ok. I felt it was nothing spectacular or life-changing as promised in the ads. What I did find it to do was give my lashes a fuller appearance. The small gaps between my lashes were filled and it gave me a fake “natural” appearance .

Before: Kind of chunky and gapy

After: Nothing too dramatic just  more filled in

Review: Maybelline Falsies Mascara!!!

Image

Alright, so if you haven’t already guessed from my screen name, mascara is my vice! If I could have only one makeup product for the rest of my life, it probably would be mascara. I’ve spent more money on testing drugstore mascaras, then I have on any other product from the drugstore. With that being said, ladies and gentlemen let me present to you, Maybelline Falsies Volume Express! If you already have tried/purchased it, great, if not oh man are you missing out!

DISCLAIMER: I already have fairly long lashes so this mascara just intensified this and made them gorgeously darker, longer and dense looking

Product: This is hands down my favorite drugstore mascara EVER (well for now anyways ūüôā ). Advertised as being able to increase your natural lashes by 300% yeah, i believe it, this product not only volumizes and¬†lengthens, but it fills in the patches between your lashes as well, given them a deep dark look. ¬†When I first got the ¬†mascara I was really thrown off by the wand. Its kind of spiky, its stiff and has a weird curve to it. But once I¬†figured¬†out the swoop side goes up, I was ready to amaze the world with my “natural¬†falsies”.

Packaging: The bright purple  packaging is definitely  fun and catchy, and the size is comparable to the Covergirl Blast.

Price: Anywhere form $5-$8 depending on location and availability

Overall: LOVE LOVE LOVE! However, I do where contacts and if I where the non-waterproof for longer then ten hours my eyes become very sensitive and itchy, so I would recommend the waterproof mascara.
