WTH!!! Sara is alive??? + project 10 product

Hello? Heelllloooooo? Is anyone there, does  anyone still read this blog? LOL, hi my lovely readers, long time no communicate. Who would have thunk that a new job would mean 16 hour work days? NOT ME! But, I’m here, I’m rearing to  share my thoughts so lets get started!

So this summer, I decided to go on a shopping hiatus. This meant NO new makeup, NO new bath products, NO new nothing! I wanted to force myself to use up all that I had stock piled. So how did I do? Take a look 🙂

  1. generic baby wipes to remove makeup
  2. 2 tubes of Milani lipgloss
  3. Benefit Lip Plump
  4. Dove deodorant
  5. Clarisonic cleaning brush
  6. Kiels eyecream
  7. Revlon Colorstay Foundation
  8. Neutrogena Acne Face Wash
  9. Maybelline clear mascara
  10. Maybelline Stiletto liner
  11. Maybelline Lash Stilletto mascara
  12. Smashbox Hyperlash mascara
  13. Loreal Collagen Mascara
  14. Maybelline One-by-One Mascara
  15. Elf  Clear gel
  16. Revlon Lash grow Mascara
  17. Maybelline Falsies Mascara
  18. Essence Gel Liner Black an d Purple
  19. Acuve Oasis contact lenses
  20. FAB shaing cream
  21. Bigelow lotion
  22. Perricone MD moisturizer

Considering I’m addicted to cosmetics, I think I did fairly well. I knocked out most of my mascara collection, cut out all my skin care samples,  finally finished my foundation and even used my Clarisonic so much that now I need a new brush.

Phewww Im exhausted, just looking at this huge pile in front of me is making me nervous, its like there is a huge void on my vanity…must…replenish…NOW!

DRUGSTORE FOUNDATION SMACKDOWN!

Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the showdown of the year!!!! In this corner we have Revlon and her partner L’Oreal, and in that corner we have Rimmel and her partner Maybelline. Who will win?  It just might be Almay, Covergirl or Nuetrogena….LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!!

🙂 I’m on the never-ending search for prefect skin. While a good skin care routine is a must, a good foundation is also a bonus, so here’s my mass review of most of the drugstore foundations I have tried.

Revlon Colorstay:

Pros: Covers like a Mo Fo! I have a more in-depth review, but this the foundation everyday because it stays on my oily skin all day and it doesn’t budge until I take it off. I love that they have two versions of this foundation, 1 for oily/combo skin and one for dry/normal

Cons: Its thick. I mix mine with a moisturizer to thin it a bit and if you read my previous posts you know I hate that it does not have a pump  so it can really messy.

L’Oreal True Match

Pros: Third times the charm for me and this foundation. I hated it at first but now I really like it. It can give a very sheer effect but it also can be built up. It gives off a nice dewy finish because it is more liquidy than most drugstore foundations. Oh and they have a HUGE shade selection, which is great if you have lighter or darker skin

Cons: For me it’s not very long-lasting. Towards the end of my workday I can see it fading from oiler areas on my face. Also it doesn’t have a pump so yup it can get messy.

L’Oreal Visible Lift

Pros: This is my new favorite. It has awesome coverage and longevity! A little goes a long way which is great because this on the more expensive end of drugstore foundations. As far as “visible lift”  I think it works slightly because it fills in small pores and wrinkles giving a smooth look,  and oh did I mention, it has a pump!

Cons: Because it is very bendable  a small amount is all you need but it can be hard to control how much comes out of the pump sometimes.

Maybelline Superstay:

Pros: This is the prefect combo of the Revlon Colorstay and L’Oreal True Match. Its  thick but not too thick and gives really nice coverage. Lasts a normal 8 hour work day once set with a good face powder.

Cons: Doesn’t do too well under temperature change. I live in California and this foundation tends to oxidize when it gets too hot.

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse

Pros: It has a pump and is very thick giving a full coverage airbrushed effect.

Cons: Do not like this one. Its thick and gloopy and doesn’t blend all that well. Also I noticed after I put it in it kind of separated around certain areas on my face, ewww

Rimmel Stay Matte

Pros: Aww my first foundation ever 🙂 Don’t know if they sell this anymore but it came in a squeeze tube and gave very nice coverage. Because it was do dense a little went a long way and it really helped control oil.

Cons: It hard to blend. I normally used just my fingers with this foundation

Nuetrogena Healthy Skin

Pros: Often compared to the NARS Sheerglow, this foundation gives the nicest sheer dewy coverage. This is perfect for the days you don’t want to wear any foundation but still want to look out together. At one point this was my everyday foundation and I would just to my fingers to blend it in.

Cons:I fell  out of love with it 😦 Don’t know what happened but I just kinda lost interest in this foundation half way through the bottle. Oh, no pump and very expensive

Covergirl Clean Foundation

Pros: Cheap and different types depending on your skins needs

Cons: It’s just weird! At first I thought  I found the perfect $4 foundation but that was a short-lived thought. It smells weird, turns blotchy and doesn’t stay on

Almay Smart Shade

Pros: Interesting concept, comes out white, changes color while you blend into skin.

Cons: It turned powdery on my skin and didn’t give much coverage and there are only three “colors” to  choose from light, medium or dark.

So there you are my fellow bloggers, the drugstore foundation smackdown!!! Who won??? No  one 😦 Although I love my Colorstay and Visible Lift I’m still on the search for the illusive “perfect” foundation 🙂

If you have any suggestions  for a new foundation please leave a comment or if you want a more in-depth review of any of the foundations I mentioned just let me know 🙂

Drugstore Liquid Liners Comparison

I looooove me some liner! Not only does it  help my hooded eyes pop, but it gives an overall more put together look. Now I would be  lying if I said I’m  not curious about higher end liners, but why spend so much when drugstore liquid liners do the exact same thing 🙂

Below is a comparison of three very popular drugstore liquid liners : Loreal Linear Intense, Maybelline Stiletto, and N.Y.C Liner

Brushes: While both the Loreal Linear Intense and the Stiletto have felt tips,  the NYC liner has a really thin brush

Color Payoff:

Comparison: For overall intenseness of color, the Maybelline Stiletto is the BEST! Not only is it the darkest of the three, it also has the longest staying power. I found  that with the Linear Intense (which is also the most advertised and over hyped on YouTube), I had to go over the line multiple times and even then it wasn’t very black and it had a tendency to turn grey and flake on my oily  lids. The NYC liner was great in color, but the flimsy brush and liquidy formula made it more difficult to work with.

Overall: I’ve been using the Maybelline Stiletto Liner for years, and even when I experiment with other brands and styles, I always find myself going back. Most definitely worth a try 🙂

Review: Maybelline Falsies Mascara!!!

Image

Alright, so if you haven’t already guessed from my screen name, mascara is my vice! If I could have only one makeup product for the rest of my life, it probably would be mascara. I’ve spent more money on testing drugstore mascaras, then I have on any other product from the drugstore. With that being said, ladies and gentlemen let me present to you, Maybelline Falsies Volume Express! If you already have tried/purchased it, great, if not oh man are you missing out!

DISCLAIMER: I already have fairly long lashes so this mascara just intensified this and made them gorgeously darker, longer and dense looking

Product: This is hands down my favorite drugstore mascara EVER (well for now anyways 🙂 ). Advertised as being able to increase your natural lashes by 300% yeah, i believe it, this product not only volumizes and lengthens, but it fills in the patches between your lashes as well, given them a deep dark look.  When I first got the  mascara I was really thrown off by the wand. Its kind of spiky, its stiff and has a weird curve to it. But once I figured out the swoop side goes up, I was ready to amaze the world with my “natural falsies”.

Packaging: The bright purple  packaging is definitely  fun and catchy, and the size is comparable to the Covergirl Blast.

Price: Anywhere form $5-$8 depending on location and availability

Overall: LOVE LOVE LOVE! However, I do where contacts and if I where the non-waterproof for longer then ten hours my eyes become very sensitive and itchy, so I would recommend the waterproof mascara.
